Minnaz has displayed her work in various group art shows and galleries in the city, and is in the process of organizing an independent art show. Here are some of her thoughts about her art:
My childhood was one filled with colour, different cultures and excitement. Most of these years were spent in Jaipur, and prior to this I spent a few years in Shimla and Jodhpur. It was perhaps due to this early exposure to the distinct worlds of these three cities, each beautiful, unique and filled with colour, that I have always been fascinated with art and the ability to create awe-inducing structures and experiences out of nothing.
My love for painting, thus, comes from this desire to create. Unrestrained by subject or form, I allow myself to immerse completely within my art and produce spontaneous visual manifestations of my thoughts. In the last 20 years or so I have experimented with different mediums and styles of art, painting anything that catches my whims. The medium I choose to use arises from wherever my inspiration leads me, and each medium I have worked with (water colour, charcoal, pencil, pastels, acrylic paints, oils and my work on glazed porcelain) brings with it a unique satisfying experience for me.
In recent years I have been particularly interested in depicting human figures, often painted using oil on canvas.Such figures and faces, with an emphasis on their expressions and emotions, interest me greatly. Additionally, I have been working on various abstract works filled with bright colours and vivid compositions.
My current project is a series of portraits and works inspired by several accomplished musicians and sometimes cinematic personalities.
